Louisiana’s “trigger legislation” restricting abortion at any stage was invalidated.
Under the 2006 statute, rape and incest are illegal.
Just days ago, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that women had a constitutional right to abortion.
There is no longer a federal mandate for the surgery.
As a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling, Louisiana is one of 13 states that have put back in place bans or strict rules.
Following also the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V. Wade last week.
Many of these so-called “trigger laws” may take effect immediately or very immediately.
But they now face new legal challenges at the state level.
On Monday , Superior Court Judge Robinson Giarruso issued a temporary injunction and set an August 8 hearing date for an appeal.
The Center for Reproductive Rights filed a complaint against local abortion clinics on Monday. Trigger prohibitions are “ambiguity-free.”

Abortion rights also organizations and clinics in Florida asked a court on Monday to overturn a law that bans abortions beyond 15 weeks in the state.
Since 1978, Florida’s privacy provision has safeguarded abortion rights. Florida ranks third in population.
The plaintiffs also said in their complaint that inhabitants of the state “think that abortion is a basic right worthy of the highest protection against government intervention.”
According to the complaint, Florida’s 15-week statute was a “brazen effort to overrule the will of the Florida people”.
And was modeled after the Mississippi law at the center of the Supreme Court’s recent ruling.
Republican Florida Governor DeSantis hailed the Supreme Court decision and pledged to try to limit abortion access on Friday, calling it a “great victory.”
Abortion continues to be a contentious subject in the United States.
According to a recent Pew poll, 61 percent of Americans feel that abortion should be permitted in all or most cases, whereas just 37 percent agree with this.
