‘‘Prison Break’’ is an American drama television series that airs on Fox. It was written by Paul Scheuring and stars Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller). Lincoln Burrows has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, so he and his younger brother Michael Scofield devise a scheme to get out of prison and clear his record.
The narrative and concepts of this program, as well as the fascinating and dramatic atmosphere, were appreciated by fans. It received positive feedback and has been seen on a number of media. ”Prison Break” had an IMDb rating of 8.3/10, and 94% of Google users thought the show was good. It also received 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Season 5 of Prison Break concluded in May 2017 with an absurd finale, titled ‘’Behind the Eyes’’ which included two dramatic narrative twists and a happy ending for Michael Scofield.
After the fifth season of Prison Break, FOX Television Group CEO Dana Walden announced in 2017 that the network would “absolutely explore producing more episodes.” Season 6 is “in the works,” Dominic Purcell, who plays Lincoln Burrows in the series, wrote on December 12, 2017. Dominic Purcell went to confirm that production for Prison Break Season 6 was still continuing years later, in 2019.
Meanwhile, Wentworth Miller, the show’s co-star, has announced his resignation. “I’m out. of PB. Officially.” Miller said in August 2013, after earlier coming out as homosexual. “Social media isn’t static. I simply refuse to portray straight characters. Their stories have been told” he said at the end of an Instagram post detailing the backlash he’d received.
So, what happened to Season 6 of Prison Break, and will it be released at some point in the future?

Season 6 of “Prison Break” which was first announced, has now been shelved/postponed indefinitely. In actuality, Paul Scheuring declared in March 2018 that he had finished the script for ”Prison Break” season 6 episode 1. He then stated that the show was still in its early stages of development. Following that, no important announcements were made. Then came 2019, which was once again devoid of announcements.
Following the network’s merger with Disney in February 2019, the newly-appointed Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said: “There’s no plan right now to revive Prison Break or any of the other franchises, but when the creators come with a story that they think is the right time to tell, we are so ready to listen because those are some franchises of which I’m so proud and feel so fortunate that they’re in our stable.
However, things have changed in 2019. Following Dominic Purcell’s revelation that filming for Prison Break Season 6 is underway, Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier abruptly stated in August that they have no intentions for the show.
Then they began announcing the cancellation of Prison Break 6 one by one. The series’ writers’ room revealed “Nothing is ever dead” in the same month, although a sixth season is currently not in the works. Michael Thorn told Deadline in 2020 that he was working on a Prison Break spin-off, but it wasn’t ready to air yet.
By August 2019, it seems that plans had fully stalled, with the Prison Break writers’ room sharing a statement that read: “Nothing is ever dead (remember when Sara was decapitated?), but for now, the elusive season six is not on the cards.”
However, actor Dominic Purcell (who plays Lincoln on the show) went out in 2020 about his expectations for a sixth season, stating how the coronavirus outbreak inspired him to “steely resolve” to see it through. “We are all in agreement that if the story is worthy it will get made,” he said.
So far we know that season 6 was never officially canceled and that there are possibilities in the far future for a season 6 revival, but it is not a priority for Fox right now.
