Defender Nayef Aguerd, formerly of Rennes, is close to joining West Ham for $30 million.

West Ham boss David Moyes has chosen 26-year-old Aguerd.

As the next component in his ambition to make the club a serious contender for a top-six position.

Rennes signed the Moroccan player from Dijon in 2020, and he appeared in 66 league games for the French team.

On social media, also Aguerd issued a farewell message to his fans.

Because he’d experienced “amazing moments,” the decision to leave Rennes was “difficult,” according to the man who made it.

During Morocco’s journey to the quarterfinals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Aguerd, who has 25 caps for his nation, was a constant presence on the field.

Also, he appeared in both of Morocco’s World Cup play-off matches against Congo.

The West Ham medical for Aguerd is expected to be Monday.

West Ham’s fourth-highest-paid players, if the deal goes through, will be Sebastien Haller, Felipe Anderson, and Kurt Zouma.
